UPDATE 17 - 20 June 2008
As we approach two years since the kingfish go wild project its timely to review and give this quick update.
The original farm up north has been undergoing a revamp and while seeking investors is hoping to remain in the aquaculture business.
Meanwhile we have had eight reports of tags. Two from the west coast which indicates the fish went both left and right. Four in the Hauraki Gulf still within sight of the release site with two at the Noises not long after the release and one at Gannet and one at Channel. Both of these fish were re-released but indicates they are growing.
One outside Whangaroa some time ago and the most recent were killed by mistake as the tag was not spotted also up north.
We are trying to follow up and get better information on all reports.
If you catch a tagged fish and release it, please if at all possible take a photo and record the length and general condition of the fish and tag number.
Many thanks
